2017 Projects

Hello!

2016 was a great year. Well, it was great at the Donutglow factory, at least. I opened up a Facebook page, ran some giveaways, made some buddies, and drew a lot of illustrations for you guys! Here's what is on tap for the new year.

Donutglow Series Packs - Will be releasing illustrations available for (very) limited & discounted purchase in six-packs. Each purchaser will receive:

  • 1 Current WWE Main Roster Wrestler
  • 1 Womens Wrestler
  • 1 Current NXT / 205 Live Wrestler
  • 1 2000s / 2010s Wrestler
  • 1 1980s / 1990s Wrestler
  • 1 Mystery Wildcard Wrestler (my choosing, could be anyone from any time period from any promotion in the world)

After the packs sell out, I will release 5 of the prints to my Society6 shop, but the wildcard print will be exclusive to the buyer of the series. I will be running the first series as a test, and if it's a success, you'll be seeing a lot more of these this year!

Commissions - I will be ramping up the commissions in 2017, pushing out as many as my little fingers can handle. Got a wedding to pay for!

Conventions - I had been saying this all year in 2016, but 2017 is the time that I will really be looking into making real life convention & art show appearances to get my work seen by more than just the hashtagging internet. Any suggestions?

New Merch - Stickers, enamel pins, and maybe even a hardcover self-published book are a few ideas I have cooking.

Non-wrestling Artwork - What a novel concept! Music & film illustrations will be coming, and I've already started experimenting with different styles so that you don't get sick of all of my work looking the same.

Thanks to everyone for a killer 2016, anyone who follows my work gives me a reason to keep grinding away here. Xoxo

Feliz Navidad & Happy New Years!

Now on Facebook!

I've just opened the Donutglow Illustrations page to the public. I plan on holding some giveaways there soon, and keeping everyone updated on store sales & deals, and also throwing up a few exclusive illustrations from time to time. If you like my work, and/or you're not too picky with your Facebook likes, send one my way!

Halloween Havoc

I am currently running a series on my Instagram page from October 1st all the way through Halloween, of the creepiest, spookiest, weirdest & halloweeniest wrestlers in TV history. All wrestlers are also available to purchase in my Society6 shop, with a bigger, 24-wrestler print being released at the end of the month. I'm working at a faster pace than usual for this series, but it's been turning out some of my favorite illustrations so far. Hope you guys like it!

Back in the Saddle

Hey, mates! Got some new artwork up this week, and I hope to keep it flowing pretty steadily all throughout the summer. Also working on lots of new merchandise for the Society 6 shop including shirts, beach towels, pillows & bed sheets! What a time to be alive!

Also, I wanted to put this out there to anyone who may be reading and has some knowledge: I know next to nothing about conventions - comic, designer, or otherwise. Is there anyone out there willing to school me on the ins and outs? I'm thinking about applying for some of the smaller shows around the Northeast in the fall, and would love to chat about your experience, and also would love to meet anyone out there who's ever double-tapped one of my posts, or bought a print.

If you're so kind, I'm easy to find. Thanks!

Road to Wrestlemania

I keep saying to myself that I am going to start illustrating more than just pro wrestlers, but I always end up coming back! I'm past the 1k mark in Instagram followers now, a personal goal of mine, so I might celebrate with a limited run of stickers for sale pretty soon.

I haven't been able to pump out too much work lately, as I've been focusing on taking some steps to change careers, and the nights after my office job have been devoted to that. I guarantee to have a few new characters done before Wrestlemania, though.

I actually have had the chance to do a few non-wrestling pieces lately, but some may never see the light of day. This is all still a learning process for me, but I'm happy that so many people have seemed to enjoy my work so far. Not even ONE negative comment in a year plus of doing this. That's pretty good in this anonymous trolling age we live in.

As always, commissions are available! I've had the opportunity to do some cool ones lately. Email me (donutglowgm@gmail.com) to discuss scope and price. And the online shop is always open, which you can find right here. If I don't get a chance to check back in before April, enjoy Wrestlemania season, and keep an eye on the @donutglow social media accounts for new artwork.

Adios,

Game Changer

Things change quickly. A few days ago, I posted about almost reaching 500 followers on Instagram, and by the end of that day, I was at 600+, now sitting at 700. Finn Balor, current WWE NXT Champion, and well renowned Lego fanatic, re-posted my illustration of him, which gave me a huge boost and led to a brief but pleasant conversation with him, and I'm in the process of sending him a few prints. My commissions started piling up, the online shop starting booming a bit, and everything's well at Donutglow HQ.

I'm glad people are enjoying the work, because sometimes you're not so sure. Before last October, I hadn't picked up a pencil in over a decade, so gaining a bit of traction and support in this last year has been a huge confidence booster to keep moving forward with my stupid drawings. Thank you all. Even the people who only post WWE memes, and ask me to draw them free logos.

So, business time. Sales still going on for the next few days (LINK TO SHOP):

11/29 Sunday at 1pm through 11/30 Monday at Midnight: 20% Off Everything & Free Shipping

12/1 Tuesday: $6 Off All Apparel & Free Shipping from 12am-12am PT

If you're interested in a commissioned piece by Christmas time, now is the time to set it up. My time is a bit limited, so email donutglowGM@gmail.com with what you're looking for, and I'll do my best to get it done for you in time.

Also, if I hit 1k on Instagram, I'm going to start printing up some stickers, so look out for those in the future.

Thanks again, everyone.

Thats a lot of money to be saved right there, yes it is. Click the SHOP link at the top of this page to pick up some artwork.

I hope people have been enjoying the wrestler characters I've been dropping this week. They're always a lot of fun to do, but don't produce a ton of revenue for me, so picking something up from the shop would make me very happy.

I am on track to hit 500 followers on Instagram later this week, and I'll probably write something up about that when it happens. It's been just over a year since I started drawing again so those 500 mean a lot to me. In the meantime, just try to have a great thanksgiving, k?

New Site

Actually, it's my first site. I've always wanted one of these suckers. So I've finally started making a little bit of scratch from this freelance illustrating gig, and if there's one thing I've learned from all of those business classes I never took, it's that you need to re-invest a percentage of your profits into yourself.

So what I want to accomplish with this dot com is the following:

  1. Get more work. I love it and I'm greedy and I want MORE!
  2. Put all of my existing work and contact info and online shop into one central hub. I'm getting tired of telling people to follow me on all of these different accounts (but follow me anyway: @donutglow pretty much everywhere except Facebook).
  3. Free donuts (still working on how this can be accomplished).
  4. Keep people updated on what I'm working on, and what's coming up for me so that they don't think I'm just ignoring them. I'm a busy little beaver lately!

Right now, I have a few personal projects I'm working on as Christmas gifts for friends & family, as well as some secret commissions that I can't talk about yet. Expect all of this to eventually bubble up into my gallery pages, and I'll try to put up a new blog post each time I update the site.

I also expect to be updating The Wrestlers section often, because I can't help myself from drawing those little dudes. My goal is to hit 100, and then try to shop around a book, but I have a long way to go on that front.

In the meantime, check out my shop and see if there's anything there that you might want to hang up in your mother's basement.

Hey, you're on my website! AND you read the blog! I just can't believe it.
